RI single-family home sales fall from a year ago but remain strong

Warwick, R.I. – December 15, 2021 -- The median price of single-family homes sold in Rhode Island last month climbed 16.1 percent from 12 months earlier, to $375,000. Sales activity however, continued to fall for the fifth consecutive month. The number of closings fell by 8.2 percent, though those put under contract but not closed in November, rose 2.7 percent, an indication that future closing activity should increase. Full Story

Realtors report restrained activity in R.I.’s housing market

Warwick, R.I. – November 19, 2021 -- October sales data released today by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors portrays a housing market that continues to slow. Single-family home sales fell 22.3 percent from October 2020 but despite the slowdown in activity, the median price continued to climb, rising by 12.7 percent year-over-year. Full Story

Realtors release September and 3rd quarter sales

Warwick, RI – October 20, 2021 -- Residential property prices in Rhode Island continued to escalate in the third quarter, though the first signs of a slowing housing market became apparent. Data released today by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors showed that at $385,000, the median price of single-family homes sold from July through September was 15 percent higher than that of the third quarter of 2020 and reached an all-time quarterly high. Accompanying that price increase, however, was an 8.4 percent slowdown in closed sales from the previous year. Full Story

R.I. home prices continue to climb, sales of single-family homes slow

Warwick, R.I. – September 16, 2021 --The median price of single-family homes sold in Rhode Island reached a new peak last month, according to data recently released by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors. At $390,000, the median sales price rose 17.1 percent from 12 months earlier and 1.6 percent from the previous month.  Prices have not fallen from the prior year since January 2017. Full Story

Activity begins to wane in R.I.’s housing market

Warwick, R.I. – August 19, 2021 -- While the median price of single-family home sales continued to climb in Rhode Island, July sales data released today by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors showed a slowdown in sales activity from the prior year.  The median price of $384,000, was 16 percent higher than that of July 2020 and the number of homes available for sale was 20 percent lower. Out-of-state home buyers flock to R.I. in second quarter

Warwick, R.I. – August 3, 2021 -- RI Realtors recently released second-quarter home sales statistics which show a marked increase in buyers from other states who purchased in the Ocean State. Out-of-state buyers of single-family homes, multifamily homes and condominiums during April through June increased 69 percent from the same period last year. Full Story

R.I.’s housing shortage sees some relief in June

Warwick, R.I. – July 14, 2021 -- The Rhode Island Association of Realtors released June sales statistics today which portray another double-digit, year-over-year increase in price.  At $385,000, June’s median sales price of single-family homes represents a 24.6 percent gain since June of last year and a 5.5 percent gain from the previous month. Depleting Supply Causes Rhode Island Home Prices to Skyrocket

Inventory Shrinks Further in R.I.’s Housing Market

Warwick, R.I. – April 15, 2021 -- Today, the Rhode Island Association of Realtors announced that in terms of supply, the start of the 2021 home selling season has been the leanest on record. With just 1192 single-family homes on the market in Rhode Island, the current inventory is approximately 25 percent less than the previous monthly record low of 1594 in the spring of 2002. Rate of sales moderating in R.I.’s housing market

Warwick, RI -- March 19, 2021 - February home sales data released today by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors shows evidence of a moderating market. While still up over last year, the year-over-year increase in single-family home sales fell to just two percent in February, compared to a seven percent increase in January and a more than 20 percent gain in the months of September through December 2020. January housing market remains strong but out-of-state buyer interest wanes

Warwick, RI -- February 18, 2021 – Single-family home sales continued to rise year-over-year according to January sales data released today by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors, though at a more moderate rate. New heights reached in R.I.’s housing market in 2020

Warwick, RI – January 15, 2021 -- For obvious reasons, 2020 was one for the record books and housing sales certainly stood out among them. With more single-family home sales than ever before, Rhode Island’s housing market soared despite a worldwide pandemic and historically low inventory levels. Sales statistics released today by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors, point to a single-family home market which saw a year over year gain of 5.1 percent in closed transactions and an increase of 12.3 percent in median price.
