Shannon Buss named 2020 president of R.I. Association of Realtors

Warwick, RI – November 15, 2019 ... The Rhode Island Association of Realtors today announced the election of Shannon Buss as 2020 president. A broker associate and professional development manager with Randall, Realtors, Buss assumes her duties for the 5400-member association this week, having been recently installed at the National Association of Realtors Annual Conference in San Francisco.

Buss has been an active participant in the Realtor organization and has held numerous leadership positions at the local, state and national levels. She is a 2014 graduate of the National Association of Realtors Leadership Academy and has served on or chaired more than two dozen committees and boards. Her work has earned her recognition as a featured agent in Top Agent magazine, as well as an Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Women’s Council of Realtors.

As a licensed real estate instructor, Buss has amassed extensive training experience. She is a national educator who has mentored, coached and trained hundreds of Realtors throughout her career.  She was admitted into the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council Hall of Fame in 2012.  The Council is the world’s largest organization of real estate professionals focusing on buyer representation.

“I have always believed that education is the most important asset we have in real estate. The real estate industry changes by the minute and we have to always be prepared for the unexpected.  Skill matters when things are going well but it matters most when things aren't,” said Buss.

Despite a full career schedule, Buss actively works to better the local community. Her civic associations include six years as Roger Williams University’s R.I. Alumni president and seven years as a director on the board of the Museum of Newport Irish History. She also supports the National Kidney Foundation, Rhode Island Food Pantry, Potter League for Animals, Save the Bay, Sojourner House and the Women’s Resource Center, among others.

“We are lucky to have someone with Shannon’s impressive resume representing our association. She has worked tirelessly to raise the bar of professionalism in our industry. Thanks to her genuine concern for our members and their profession, I know she will be an excellent leader,” said Philip Tedesco, CEO of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors.

A resident of Newport, Buss graduated from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Minor in Legal Studies. In addition, she has earned several designations of higher learning from the National Association of Realtors, among them, the Residential Real Estate Council, Accredited Buyers Representative, Seller Representative Specialist and Graduate of Realtor Institute designations.
